Albuquerque Police Department homicide detectives are investigating what they suspect is a murder-suicide in which a 22-year-old man killed his brother and sister before shooting himself in Southeast Albuquerque over the weekend.

Sunday night, police were called to the 100 block of Pennsylvania Street, near Zuni SE, for reports that three people were “unresponsive” inside of a home. When they arrived they found the three were dead.

Gilbert Gallegos, an APD spokesperson, said Monday that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide. He did not identify anyone involved.

“Officers found a 22-year-old man inside his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Gallegos wrote in a news release. “He was determined to be deceased. Officers also located the man’s 20-year-old sister and his 17-year-old brother, who were also deceased.”

He said detectives are still trying to determine the motive and the circumstances around the shootings.
