Motorists traveling on Bridge Boulevard should be aware of new traffic patterns in the South Valley.

The westbound lanes will be closed from Isleta Boulevard to Young Avenue through Nov. 25, according to Bernalillo County Spokesperson Melissa Smith.

As a reconstruction project heads toward completion, crews have moved all traffic into eastbound lanes at Isleta Boulevard, while they prepare to replace the roadway on the westbound side.

All businesses will be accessible during construction, Smith said, and southbound will be able to turn onto Isleta Boulevard.

Once the work is done, the westbound lanes of Bridge Boulevard will reopen, and all westbound traffic will be shifted onto the new lanes.

Phase 2 of the Bridge Boulevard Reconstruction Project includes new asphalt resurfacing, new ADA-compliant sidewalks and wheelchair-accessible ramps, new lighting for pedestrians and motorists, new pavement markings and new bike lanes separated from vehicle traffic by a buffer zone.

Also included are new traffic signals with an adaptive traffic system.

County public works staff recently said the phase, delayed by almost a year, is expected to be completed by Jan. 21.
