Albuquerque Public Schools leaders are inviting the public to share their thoughts as the school board prepares the 2025-26 APS budget.
The Board of Education is hosting two listening sessions in the coming days.
“We believe the public can be partners in the budget process, and we’re looking forward to getting as many ideas as we embark on the process for the next school year,” Superintendent Gabriella Durán Blakey said. “We want this to truly be a listening session so our board and staff can get a sense of what the public wants and needs for their schools.”
Event dates are:
- Thursday, Oct. 24, at Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3315 Louisiana Blvd. NE.
- Monday, Oct. 28, at Jimmy Carter Middle School, 8901 Bluewater Road NW.
Each event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday’s session will be streamed on the Board of Education’s YouTube channel.
“Our community has told us time and again that it wants input into key decisions, and we as a board feel strongly that those thoughts are vital,” said Crystal Tapia-Romero, who heads the board’s finance committee. “Everyone is working toward better outcomes for students in the district, and making certain our budget aligns with educational priorities is a meaningful first step.”
