President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race has left many voters wondering who will end up on the ballot in November.

New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver said in a statement Monday that after Biden’s announcement there has been misinformation about New Mexico’s election process.

“I encourage voters to always seek out trusted sources of election information, like their county clerk or the Secretary of State’s Office, and to verify information about voting and elections before repeating or reposting it,” Oliver said in the statement.

Toulouse Oliver said there has been false information trending online regarding how the Democratic nominee will appear on the general election ballot this November. She said the state follows the major party rules for selecting presidential candidates. The ballot deadline is on August 27, and the Democratic nominee for president will appear on New Mexico’s general election ballot.

In June, President Biden won New Mexico’s primary election. Because Biden has withdrawn from re-election, his pledged delegates will have to choose how they allocate their votes alongside unpledged delegates.

To remove his name from the ballot, President Biden’s campaign will need to file a notarized statement of withdrawal to the Secretary of State’s Office Before Aug.27.
