Gross! Spring technically starts Thursday but New Mexicans know that spring is really here when the winds arrive – and the wind showed up today. The wind hit at the same time temperatures dropped 11 degrees over two hours as a forecast front and dust storm made its way across New Mexico.
This photo of EDo and Downtown Albuquerque by Roberto Rosales was taken about 1:45, just as the NWS reported 68-mph wind gusts at the Sunport.

Stay safe, Albuquerque.
Around the state
As of 3:00, the highest wind speed we found was a 69 mph gust in T or C at 2:26 pm.
And the National Weather Service’s ABQ office shared this satellite image of the state’s incredibly windy day:
The Dust RGB satellite imagery channel shows widespread blowing dust (hot pink) over New Mexico this afternoon. Just absolutely horrible conditions and visibility across central and eastern NM today! #NMwx

Check out how proud NOAA is of weather manipulation. I know that statement is anathema on this site.
