Founder & Publisher
After taking a detour to serve two terms as an elected City Councilor and City Council President in Albuquerque, he returned to his love for civic news and launched The Paper., Albuquerque’s alt-weekly, and eventually acquired several other community newspapers. Today, his Ctrl+P Publishing is the state’s second largest news publisher and was named one of 2023’s Top 10 LGBTQ+-owned companies by ABQ Business First.
He is a graduate of Berry College, NMSU and the FBI National Academy.

Tierna Unruh-Enos
Chief Operations Officer
Tierna Unruh-Enos is an editor with the Ctrl+P Publishing team. She worked as a producer and assignment editor in television news for KRWG-TV in Las Cruces and KOAT-TV before joining Weekly Alibi‘s print team where she moved up to serve as associate publisher and sales manager. In 2020, she helped launch Albuquerque’s new weekly, The Paper., as its first female publisher and editor and later as publisher for the group’s growing group of local papers. She is a graduate of NMSU.

Student Journalists.
We believe building the next generation of journalists is critical to sustaining local news. Each semester, we pair a journalism student from a New Mexico college or university journalism program with a mentor journalists in our newsroom to cover a beat together.
Current student journalists

Lauren Lifke (UNM)
Lauren is currently working as a student journalist at City Desk ABQ. She was previously an intern at the Santa Fe Reporter. While working as a student journalist with Ctrl+P, she also serves as the managing editor at the Daily Lobo, UNM’s student newspaper.
Previous student journalists
Sara Atencio-Gonzales. 2023-2024. UNM. Sara served as a student journalist with City Desk and The Paper for three semesters before graduating from UNM in 2024. She was accepted to SUNY’s Master’s of Journalism program.

Connor Currier. 2024. UNM. Connor served as a student journalist with City Desk through the UNM School of Journalism and Local News Fund’s fellowship and internship programs.

Elizabeth McCall. 2023-2024. NMSU. Elizabeth served as a student journalist referred from the NMSU Journalism & Media Studies program with a minor in communications. She was born in Albuquerque but grew up in Edgewood. She reported for City Desk and The Independent before graduating from NMSU in 2024. She joined City Desk full-time as a reporter after graduation.
